You can probably relate to Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands is the sorrowful tale of an outcast attempting to maintain in a prim and proper American community thats totally fake. Like mega-fakey fake. Everyone is stereotyped and tacky (right down to the fact that women sell Avon products door to door and staple cotton snow to the roof during the holiday season). There is a mean jock, a innocent Wino Ryder and weirdo neighbors. Everyone is off, except Edward, who can barely talk.

In the midst of all the chaos surrounding his arrival to the neighborhood, his horrorifying aspects are sheathed by is talent with shrubbery; but then uncovered again when he nicks a kid -- EVERYONE STARTS BEING HATERS ON HIM! Its too sad/frustrating.
Here is a closing line of an essay I found online; "The final image of Edward in the colourful gardens, surrounded by nature and creativity reinforces the idea that American society is too sterile and narrow to cope with one who does not conform."

I really could not have said it better myself. I love this movie. And I hate society. (AnArChY!!!!)

Ordinary Day

This Thanksgiving weekend has been oh so much fun.
The bf & I cleaned my room yesterday! He is the BEST! And by best I mean super organized, which is what I am not.
Also; went to a bday dinner tonight. I sat and ate and it was the best time ever!!! After nights like this I wonder why I don't go out more. (Seriously what is better than eating??)
Got a manicure/pedicure business going on, I want to go to China so I can get really fancy mermaid nails ): but for now this blue will do.
Another thing tho is the that I ripped my Anna Sui tights.

DEAR JULIA, EVERY TIME YOU WERE TIGHTS YOU DON'T HAVE TO WIND UP RIPPING THEM BY THE END OF THE NIGHT!!!! The whole isn't visible in this picture; I just wanted to show them off.
La-di-da. I think I'm going to go watch Welcome to the Rileys. (I think the last Kristen Stewart movie I saw was The Messengers? Whatever, I've missed her)
What if I signed off as gossip girl xoxo ? Hahahah, I jest.

Jill Stuart Summer 2012 Collection AKA MERMAIDIA + 1950's!!

Trying my hardest to bank this glorious little fashion find until closer to summer.
But I'm a really big fan of these colors, the pastels. I love rich and deep shades, but after a long winter and fall breaking out in salmon chiffon and baby blues is a fabulous to kick off the season.
A lot of summer collections look like things I would find on the sales rack at this beach boutique I vacation near, everything is over priced and has fake seashells sown onto it. It's so lame. But these pieces totally rock!!!
In Love.

Martha Marcy May Marlene mmmmmmm

Had to google the actual title of the movie I saw last week; had been referring to it as a variation of Mary Marley Macy Mae Marceline, etc. Very embarassing.

I loved this movie! It was a perfect indie drama with vague plot twists flashbacks so eloquently and subtly weaved into each part. There were also so many hints (and flat out obvious telling) of brutality that I had to wince a lot, but the beauty of the execution of the film kept me from closing my eyes.
I would like to call it a cult film, because it really is a film about a cult.
Its is vague about the origins or purpose of the cult, besides the fact that the leader preaches about embracing death, spooky.
Basically a girl who was poorly rooted goes into this cult -- er "family" -- to seek protection and comfort. She is raped as sort of a initiation into the group, and that sets the creepy tone for the film. The story only dabbles in scenes from her life in the cult and flips back to present day, where she lives with her uptight sister (with whom she is estranged, but living with temporarily after she flees the cult) and her husband. There is a lot of character development twists and topics, its fantastic.
Also, John Hawkes is in my Ugly Actor Crush folder in my head after seeing Winter's Bone. And Elizabeth Olsen is so amazingly beautiful, I love her. She has a darling face and huge eyes and doesn't look like shes emaciated.
It's hard to go into my favorite parts without throwing in way too many spoilers; but go see it for yourself!

Promenade

Prom is a time of love and reconciliation. Probably the only time I'll hear "you're pretty" over twenty times in a single night. It's whatever. I am an avid prom lover. Namely because it carries all these sentiments that can't be lived up to.

I'm pretty hellbent that this year my prom dress with come from Modcloth; because last year I got mine and Macy's and the mall gives me serious headaches. I'm also pretty hellbent on buying this:
It's a Crimson Sigh dress (tacky names = awesome or lame?) and I really hope it doesn't go out of stock before prom season. It's fabulous and Mad Men like and MADE FOR ME. I HOPE MY BOY DOESN'T GET ME A PURPLE CORSAGE.

WHY IS IT SO FAR AWAY?!

Cool Hair, So Care

My friend in math class the other day told me I would look really good with an undercut. And since I was bored ten minutes ago I decided to snip off some baby hairs and a couple inches by my temple. It's barely visible but my boyfriend/mom said they would disown me if I ever did it for real. Whatever. I wish I could wear pompadours all the time. Pomps + undercuts = mega awesome!?

Gemma Gemma Gemma Gemmaaaaaa (to the tune of Louis)

Gemma Ward is my favorite model in the history of models. (She's also, like, the only model I know the name of) She's so elfin, youthful and ethereal. She terrifies me and fascinates me. I want to look like her. Yeah, I really want to look like her.

Here's a shoot by Emma Summerton (best fashion photogrpaher eva!!!!) with Gemmy and Lily Donaldson (I think?) for Vogue Italia May 2008. Because in Italy, earmuffs are a May thing.

"We're just busy traveling models having some coffee and cigarettes before we hop on our private jet to God-knows-where...It's so cold"

Sleeping Sexi

After watching the haunting Australian indie drama Sleep Beauty (with none other than Sucker Punch's and Series of Unfortunate Event's power girl Emily Browning!) I have taken a new liking towards lingerie. Like the real deal. Maybe I wasn't getting the movies message?
These are some fantastic fantastic fantastic bras I found on Net-A-Porter, which is where I would purchase all my clothes if I was a rich girl.... (na na na na na na na na naaaaaa)

(Ok, the last one sort of looks like something you would find in a dentist's office but it looked so good on the model! I just wouldn't post that here because its too xxx)

Miu Miu Resort 2012

Topshop meets Mad Men meets the vintage costume store that's way too pricey. (Isn't the first picture ideal? I'm always one for a lace slip and lightning bolt earrings.)

Friends and Love

Let's Gatsby It!

For an hour a day in English class, everyday, we talk about how much drinking happened in the 1920s and 30s and how it was interpreted as successful. Unlike Fitzgerald, I don’t think I have the stamina to build a career whilst married to a bottle of whiskey, but I can still be an avid fan of flapper wear. Sequins, embroidery, gems, hats, gloves, pearls, kitten heels, love.
